Why are people with bachelor's degrees so condescending to people with 3.5 years of post-secondary education?

Rufus Plough: I have a BA and never paid attention to my classmates so I don't know who they are. As far as I know my university didn't have a class social structure. The students were just students.Your problem isn't your level of education, it's that they are South Koreans and Asians in general. Class is everything to them and they will invent a class structure in an area that had no class structure before. They think they outrank you like you were all in the military. Dannie Briseno: To be frank, you sound too wrapped up in your education...and also very insecure. Who cares what anyone else thinks? I have a B.A. and I never considered judging those who did not. People are not always thinking of you and your qualifications.

I'm a teacher in Taiwan with an AA and a CELTA, and my BS is almost done (I have earned over 100 credit hours), and I still get flamed all the time by people on Dave's ESL Cafe, other teachers, etc. Because apparently lacking one semester's worth of credit makes me utterly incapable of teaching "the ball is on the table" to a class of 18 elementary schoolers properly...Man, I can't wait to finish my BS so certain people will shut their traps......Show more

Donnell Noc! ella: That sounds like the people that I worked with when I fi! rst came to Taiwan. I only had a AA degree in General Art Ed, and a TESOL certificate, but I was still studying at a University here going for my BA. It really bothers me that people put too much importance on a stupid piece of paper instead of the abilities of another. I still get some people mocking me because my degree isn't a standard BA/BS degree. I took on extra work load to be able to have a specialized field education and yet they still think that I am not as qualified to do the same job as them or that my degree is less than theirs. Ha~ I'd like to seem them go through 6 1/2 years of school paying for 75% of it just to get a BA degree.Shinchan~ don't let those who are obviously jealous of abilities to make you feel less than what you are.
