what the differences between dslr camera and lens camera?

Fannie Collingwood: What is a lens camera?? All cameras have a lens. DSLR stands for digital single lens reflex.

Hye Caulley: I don't understand what you mean by "lens" camera. As far as I know, all cameras are lens cameras. The "L" in DSLR stands for lens.

Hai Biggart: I assume by a "lens" camera you mean an Interchangeable Lens Camera (ILC). All modern* Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) cameras are ILCs. What differentiates DSLRs from other ILCs is the use of a moving mirror (the reflex as in reflection) which either sends the image to an optical viewfinder, light sensor, and focus sensor, or to the image sensor (but never both together). This allows for high speed and accurate focusing, light metering, and for the user to see what the camera sees. Many other ILCs** have to do all this using the camera sensor, which often means their viewfinder is not so good, and focusing is slower. If you have the time to learn, and don't mind carrying a larger ! camera then DSLR-type cameras are the most powerful and flexible. The advantage of the other type of ILC, mostly referred to as Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens (EVIL) cameras is that they are less bulky.*Historically there have been been some DSLRs that where not ILCs as they had lenses permanently mounted to the camera body.**Sony's SLTs are a hybrid offering all the advantages while attempting to minimise the disadvantages....Show more

Lizzette Wendroth: I'm not sure what you mean by "lens" camera as all cameras have lenses. Are you referring to rangefinder cameras, perhaps?

Jinny Dronen: VR is Nikon's name for an image stabiliser. Canon calls it IS, and Sigma calls it OS. Different names for the same thing. The best option for someone that is not familiar with lenses is to buy your DSLR of choice, with the included kit lens. Once you become familiar with the camera, lens, and what you shoot, you can make an informed decision on what other lenses y! ou may require to get the results you want.

Abby Herwood! : I'm zero about it too but I'm making a wild guess you mean hybrid camera, compact system camera(CSC), mirroless interchangeable lens camera (MILC), or electronic viewfinder interchangeable lens (EVIL) camera. http://keerok-photography.blogspot.com/2012/10/the...
