Vegans near Kansas City Missouri?

Eli Trapeni: There is a big vegan crowd in KC. Go to the Bad Seed market on Fridays- they have so much neat stuff, even Kombucha! There is a vegan restaurant on Cherry and 28th (I forgot the name, it's run by a couple of dreads). Blue bird bistro on 17th and Summit is a restaurant that has vegan items on its menu. The tofu and vegetables are to die for! There is a Whole Foods market in Overland Park which is like 10 or 15 minutes south of downtown KC. You can get the address from wholefoods.com. They have good stuff in bulk, as well as cosmetics, body care, etc. There is a place called Wild Oats on 40th and Main, close to the plaza and Westport. While you're there, go to Phoenix Herb Co. next door. They have every kind of spice, herb, and tea you could ever need, and for really good prices. As far as other vegan-friendly products like clothes, I don't know what to tell you. I go thrift....Show more

Fritz Sisomphou: Totally confused by that other answer! Ther! e are MANY vegans in KC.Obviously, stores like Whole Foods are the ideal place to get vegan foods, but most grocery stores in the midtown area also offer vegan options.I'm also a little confused as to what you mean by "vegan products" ... All grocery stores have foods without meat in them! The best way to go vegan is to cook things yourself. I'm pretty sure all grocery stores carry tofu, and I am POSITIVE they all have fresh produce, peanut butter, nuts, etc... Just don't buy meat products!A great website you should check out is http://www.vegkansascity.com/ There you will find recipes, stores, restaurants, community... everything you could possibly want for being vegan in Kansas City....Show more

Deangelo Marchak: I would think that vegans in KC would be few and far between. Walmart is definately not geared towards anything but mainstream buying. Check the phone book for Grocers in the area and don't forget the Asian markets if any.
