Alternatives to alcoholic drinks?

Tyrone Disanti: It all depends on your budget and if you have to skimp on something else.Skip if possiblechair covers if the chairs look okspecialized linens- most places offer white for freevideography-photos tell the story. Plus you can have a family member tape it!realy jewelry- dont spend on diamonds and gold unless you are sure to wear it again, silver and crystals look just as nicepedis-if you are wearing closed toe shoes (unless you are doing a tropical honeymoon)open bar-do an open hour for cocktail or drink tickets, cash for the rest. Its a very large expensepersonalized favors-no one but you and your mother want a frame with your names and wedding date. DO something more generaly most people will like-edibly, glasses, ectflowers-do the bouquets but dont overdo it. flowers are a big clost and only last a little while. Pottred plants and silk flowers can be a great alternative for centerpieces and decor.

Walter Scordino: Virgin Pina coladas and starberr! y daiquiris are impressive without the alcohol. you additionally can look at a great itemizing of non-alcoholic drink recipes on the source below. The aspects ought to furnish you a reliable theory of which drinks you should like.

Donald Caravalho: I don't' know if this makes a difference, but our wedding will only be 20-40 people, so they are all really close, and we can do really personalized Thank-you cards, and I don't think any of them would want a favor.

Enriqueta Steffen: I worked as an assistant wedding planner for seven years, so I learned a LOT of things for my wedding when I did have it! Here are some things that I did that I totally did not regret:- I had my flowers made at a craft store, and only had fresh flowers on the table (which the site I had my wedding at provided) I chose flowers that looked very classic and hand-dried (my theme was ivory and red) and they looked awesome--and still look awesome today as a centerpiece!- I had a light hour d! 'ourve wedding--fancy finger sandwiches, cheese platter, cockt! ail shrimp and other fancy finger foods. The wedding started at 6, and no one really wanted to eat a huge meal anyways--we save so much money that way!- I had a family member take the photos--She is a great photographer, so they came out just as nice--plus she already knew our family and knew what pictures to take :)Things I wished I hadn't skrimped on:The DJ--I got a cheap DJ, and he spent half of the wedding outside smoking and playing dorky songs (I gave him a list of songs that he completely ignored.A videographer(even if it is a family member)--Everyone told me it was a waste of money, so I never got one--I regret not having my wedding taped!Last bits of advice:- Don't waste time on the tiny details- Make sure the cake tastes good (so don't get that pretty fondant cake, because fondant does NOT taste good) - Have your wedding near a hotel so family members don't have to drive home drunk- HAVE FUN!!! :)

Nikki Sypult: What are some things that were part of the bu! dget, that looking back, weren't really necessary (eg: favors, alcohol, a fancy dinner, certain decor, a videographer, a professional photographer)?Just your personal opinion on what things you could have done without. I personally will for sure have a professional photographer, but it seems like a lot of women have amateur ones and don't regret it. I am passing on the favours though, and I am wondering if any brides who have actually had them found them to be a waste in the end?...Show more

Karl Jantzen: Too be honest...I think my wedding would have been much better if it were held to family and best friends only...that would have cut about 50 people out of the wedding...made it much less expensive and it wouldn't have been wasting time catching up with people that were only invited due to work relations or friendships that were in the past...Other than that...I probably shouldn't have agreed to pay for the open bar after the limit was reached...again...50 less gue! sts and I would have been better off.

Tyree Allenbrand: I think a! loose chignon would look awesome and the bride can tweak the hairstyle a little bit. For example: Add some curls in the front or back hanging down out the bun part/add in a loose braid to the side. Or make the chignon a little more reserved by pulling it tighter with nothing hanging out.

Ewa Homrich: I will share, I love engagement/wedding stories. lolWe got engaged on May 18, 2010. My fiance took me to a really nice dinner, with a great bottle of wine. Then, we walked to the ferris wheel in South Bank. He proposed at the top of it, overlooking Brisbane. It was perfect, I love ferris wheels. We will be married on October 10,2010. I am soo excited! :D...Show more

Truman Biby: I don't mind sharing. I got engaged on Sept. 17, 2009 and wedding date Oct 30, 2010My father passed away about 8 years ago. And I was at work on this particular day on 9/17/09 which is my father's birthday. I always go to the grave site every other sunday and on special occasions. I lov! e and miss my dad truly. Well this day I felt good normally I am moody at work or take the day off and I was not upset or anything. So we met up (FH) at the subway station like always everyday and he asked me how I feel. I said good we went to get gas and he asked was we still going to dad's grave site. I said yes. The whole way there we were talking and listening to music. When we finally got to the grave site I cleaned the grave off talked to dad and when I was done my fiancee' asked me after saying happy birthday dad. He said what is the most memorable thing you remember about dad on his birthdays. So i said I remember one year when i was 17 it was dad's birthday and he gave me a ring that was a heart shape diamond. He always gave me gifts on his birthday. And when I moved on my own that ring was stolen, and I was so hurt and he died the next year. So my fiancee' said you know I am into computers and I love numbers. And he said you were 17 when dad gave you th! at ring and it is his birthday which is the 17th of sept. We are 10 ye! ars and 17 days apart, After 17 months of trying to find each other we are now here. You were in your relationship and you started it when you were 17 of your ex husband and I started mines when I was 17 of my ex. Now we are at another 17th milestone. And he got on his knee and said dad always wanted a man to ask for your hand in marriage and it don't have to be over since dad went to heaven so lets ask him if you would take me as your husband. I was crying and I stood there and all these birds flew out of the trees and I said yes. When he opened the ring box it was a cluster ring that was in the shape of a heart. I really cried. I told him when we went to the car see you had to make me cry I was doing good after 8 years I finally didn't cry coming up here. I love him so much and I am so happy that is the best thing someone ever done for me and included my dad.I know this may have sounded weird to you, especially when people ask where did he propose and I say at dad'! s cemetery. But I don't care it was the most beautiful thing to me....Show more

Ronnie Barcus: Sure! Coffee, iced coffee, speciality coffee. Soft drinks, mixed punch.... go to the public library and look at some cookbooks. All of them have sections devoted to party drinks, most of them nonalcoholic.

Dick Ovdenk: I've never been to a wedding that alcohol but I've had lots of great punch! :) At my wedding we had a coffee punch. I'm not sure how you make it but I know it has milk, chocolate syrup and coffee in it. There are lots of different ways to make it so I'm sure you could find a recipe. I've also been to weddings where the punch was a mixture of lemonade and sprite/7up. That's very cool and refreshing for a summer wedding. But my personal favorite is the coffee punch.Happy planning!...Show more

Vince Delarge: The darn birdseed that we used instead of the traditional rice. People just got way too carried away and wouldn't stop throwing it.

Frederick Mccoach: hm...would have completely did without the tins for! the personalized M&Ms (everyone ate the M&Ms and left the tins). Now I have all these wedding tins I don't know what to do it. I also would have ordered less food, because its not like we got to take any of it with us (thanks to my @$$hole in-laws). Oh and I wouldn't have ordered a case of wine because our location, who originally told us we could have it, decided a week before the wedding that we couldn't (or my husband was completely lying to me the entire time).

Marita Stadick: That's a great proposal. Tell him good job! My husband took me to a creek for a picnic. We were sitting there enjoying the scenery and he had me turn around to look at a dog walking by. When I turned back around he was holding the box open with a beautiful ring in it. He had picked out the ring on his own. I was totally surprised and of course said yes also!

Joie Kemmis: I'm having a lemonade bar at my wedding.... lots of different flavors of lemonade. Watermelon lemonade, R! aspberry lemonade, Strawberry lemonade, Limeade, etc. you can find recipes online for different ones. Just search lemonade at a recipe website. We're putting them in different apothecary beverage dispensers. You can search for those online, too.

Cletus Crotts: frozen drinks and shirley temples ummm :-)

Elfreda Grossen: We could have done with a bit less food, honestly everyone ate til they were bursting and there was still a load left. However, as we catered the wedding ourselves (my hubby and his friends are all chefs) we were able to freeze a lot of stuff that was left over and we also sent family home with "doggy bags" of steak!!

Avis Brantner: My daughter had favor bags filled with chocolates and little bottles of bubbles. I ended up bringing home at least half of each. If we were doing it over, I would suggest passing on both. One thing I would do differently: At the reception, I would still have had the DJ introduce the wedding party as we cam! e in the door, then had a period of 10 or 20 minutes for mingling. But! THEN, I would have had the DJ announce something like, "Hey folks, this is a big day, it's been a busy day, and we have some hungry people here. So the parents of the bride and groom are heading for the buffet table. They're going to jump to the front of the line and get their own plates as well as plates for their son and daughter. I know everyone will understand if we ask for just 20 minutes to give them time to get a bite to eat, and then they'll all be ready to visit and party some more."Someone with a lot more tact than I have would need to reword that. The intent isn't to insult anyone; it's just to remind the guests that the bride and groom and their parents need just a few minutes to eat without being interrupted!

Glynda Darrin: Well, I'm not married yet, but I can tell you as a guest what I've never cared about, and I can tell you as a person planning a wedding for myself, and assisting 3 friends in planning theirs what we think is important and what's n! ot:Favors are a waste of time, unless they're edible, and even then, they may or may not get eaten. None of us go to a wedding expecting great food or a huge meal- we eat before we go because we're usually expecting dry chicken. We really don't want a big dinner, because we want to drink and dance, which is hard to do when your belly can't be sucked in because you're so full and you just want to go home and go to bed. None of us notice how expensive things are- we just notice when they look really cheap. Stay away from balloons and plastic silverware, and paper plates if you can- they can make the whole thing look cheap. We also don't notice how decorated the church is most of the time. Churches are beautiful; they don't need $1000 worth of flowers. We don't notice a lot of the "little extra details" in the decor. Put crystals on it if you want to, but it doesn't mean we'll see them. We don't care too much what they cake looks like- we just want to eat it. If we'r! e going to eat, we would much rather eat food that tastes good than foo! d that is "a culinary masterpiece." Things to spend money on: Slide shows of the couple are great in the church before the wedding, they keep us entertained while we wait for people to be seated, but we don't want to have to sit there and attentively watch them during the reception. We like coloring books and activities for kids- many of us don't have kids, and it keeps us from having to hear them run around and scream- for those that do have children- it's easier to manage them when they're not bored. Every bride I know said the pictures were the best money she spent. Find a photographer you like, perferably one that's inexpensive. Just because they cost more it doesn't mean they're better. Choose based on quality, not price. We all stay longer when the music is good, and we can dance to it. Jazz bands are nice for the dinner hour, but I would strongly suggest a DJ for at least part of the night if not all of it. We like to see a happy couple- we don't stick aroun! d if the bride is off fuming bad because something went wrong. We appreciate the bar. We don't get wasted, but we enjoy a glass of wine or beer to relax and celebrate the occasion. If you have a full bar, be prepared for REALLY drunk people on the dance floor. That's all I can think of for now... Good luck, and congrats!!!...Show more

Enriqueta Steffen: That's a nice proposal story!

Rosalva Steinmann: "Fre" is a brand of wine that I have tried - and liked - it is wine with the "alcohol removed". I haven't had a glass of wine in years, so to me it looks, smells, and tastes like wine. Wine experts may say that it tastes slightly vinegary - you'll have to sample it for yourself. Their website has mocktail recipes also.http://www.frewines.com/advice/recipes.html...Show more

Rodrigo Pezley: This guy grew to become into like i think of a huge shot editor or some thing i think of. the girl and the guy's subject music grew to become into "Love strikes in Myste! rious techniques". by ability of accident the singer who sang that musi! c grew to become into having a stay overall performance, so the guy offered a great bouquet and had it sent to the singer's lodge room. The singer's secretary instructed the guy that the singer probably could not supply his request yet he nonetheless tried attempting to get to the singer's sturdy ingredient. on the night of the stay overall performance, the guy and the girl have been there seated close to the degree. Then while the singer grew to become into approximately to sing "Love strikes In Mysterious techniques"...the singer pronounced "this is your danger." (or some thing like that i'm uncertain). He have been given down on his knees and proposed to her infront of hundreds of folk with the definitely singer of their fave music sang their music....Show more

Erin Arron: What about a smoothie bar? Obviously, you wouldn't have to have every kind of fruit under the sun available, but maybe you could pick out a couple smoothie recipes you and your fiance really love! and serve those. Some classics would be Strawberry Banana or Orange Pineapple smoothies.

Irma Poiter: Me and my fiance were good friends in jr high and high school (we met at our church's youth group) but then when college hit he stayed around and became a firefighter and I went off to Chicago and became an EMT then I decided I also wanted to be a firefighter so I was a firefighter/EMT for a while. Then a series of events happen and I find myself working back where we grew up (where he had stayed) and at the exact same fire department! We have now been dating for about 4 years and he proposed in June. I was off duty and he was on (which rarely ever happens) and I was just working around my house and I hear all these sirens....I look outside and there is about 3 Fire engines out there and Jack hops off the one he was driving and comes over a proposes! I had no idea what to say! Of course I said yes! Then he asked me what I wanted to do that day because he really wasn! 't on duty. Then later I found out he asked my whole family behind my b! ack if he could ask me to marry him! He also had his dad and my dad help him choose the ring! We are getting married in April of 2011 we are having our ceremony at the church then the reception at the fire department....Show more

Felipa Nosis: -a non-alcoholic slush mixed with 50/50 or Lemon Lime soda (here's a recipe...http://www.barnonedrinks.com/drinks/t/tropical-slu...Here's a link (http://www.drinksmixer.com/cat/8/) to a website with over 700+ non alcoholic drinks all divided into categories.

Adrian Paraz: Don't fear approximately it! Don't even point out it earlier than the marriage ceremony. I believe you will have a shock cake for him on the reception (only a small one, or probably a cupcake with a candle) and probably have the visitors sing. No one will think badly until they uncover out AFTER the marriage ceremony that it used to be his birthday and so they certainly not mentioned something. I understand it's now not the equal hindrance, however I used! to be a BM in my FSIL's marriage ceremony and it used to be on my birthday. I didn't desire any point out of it although the bride desired to. I did not desire to remove from their day, I have a birthday each 12 months so I do not care. A couple folks discovered on the marriage ceremony and simply mentioned comfortable birthday, and/or purchased me a drink. After the marriage ceremony extra folks discovered and wanted that they had recognized. I used to be only a bridesmaid so now not rather a colossal deal there, however the groom is the groom! I realize I might like to grasp on that day so I might say it to him, if I discovered later, I might be a bit embarrased.

Marion Wieboldt: alot of drinks you get there is a non alcoholic sister to italso fruit punch i do a sorbet punch and sprite mix so good...Show more

Nadia Crauswell: How about you have an open bar but with non alcoholic drinks like you can get the mix and they can have virgin drinks also they have no! n alcoholic beer.Sparking Cider is good also. Look in the soda or juice! section in the grocery store you will see a lot of drink mixes that do not have alchol in them.

Antonia Boomershine: Cookie cutter bridesmaids are not attractive. To get short hair into a french twist you will need to use a lot of hairspray and bobby pins. It won't nearly as pretty as leaving her hair down with a pretty hair clip.

Travis Colomb: My friend wants her maid of honor and bridesmaids to have french twist like Audrey Hepburn at her wedding. We all have different hair lengths and hair thickness out of the 4 of us in the wedding. We want to look good for photo and the wedding like we just stepped out of a magazine. Here is what we are going to wear that day. http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Strapless-Shor... in black or red http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Charmeuse-Plea... in black or red http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Flower-Salon-C... in red Are there any other hairstyles that will look good with this outfit? Saran Stealy: I am just curious how it went for you . my proposal was small with not to many people,(just the way I liked it) it was july 21 2009 he propsed . My boyfriend (now husband) Kevin called me at 9 AM and asked if I wanted to go to the beach for the day with a couple friends and him. and me LOVING the beach said "hm... sure Ill go. pick me up?" and he said "Yes Ill pick you up in 30 minutes " and to me him asking me to go to the beach was rare , he dose not like public places like that and he dose not like the bad water I most of the time have to drag him there. so I started to wonder whats going on here... and on the phone he sounded shaky . So he picks me up we go to the beach and set up our spot we meet up with our friends and Kevin says " I want to talk to liz and mat be right back " so he takes them and I 5 seconds later I see Liz nearly fall and Mat hug Kevin and then I am really ! thinking whats going on! but then we have a great day at the beach so m! uch fun. And then at the end of the day we are sitting on a blanket holding each other and I kiss his cheek and said "thank you , love you" and I swear he looked like he was out to pass out and he said " I love you too... so much , I have from the momment I met you and for the 3 years Ive been with you I feel like a changed man .. all thanks to you , and my family loves you! I cant picture living life without you" and I was kinda shocked by his speach and all I could mange to say was "Kevin..." and then he walks over and gets somthing out from under the towels. he walks over and sits back beside me and he pulls out the box opens it and I see a beautful emraled ring and says " I dont want to live without you... so .. Iam wondering do you want to live with me ... for the rest of your life?... will you marry me?" I dident do what most people would do I dident say are you serious or just say yes I pretty much jumpedd on him and kissed him and was almost crying said " yes Ill m! arry you! I want to spend the rest of my life with you!" he put on the ring and my friends came over and congratulated us. we got married spetember 15 2009. best day of my life. what was yours?...Show more

Daria Verfaillie: Looking back now, I would have had a smaller wedding and probably a simpler wedding. I think that I would have done it in someone's backyard and had the reception in someone's house with only close friends and family there.Don't get me wrong I don't really regret what we did but I don't think that I would have missed anything to have a simpler wedding and probably with a lot less planning involved.

Robt Betker: i felt the same way when i had my quinceanera. i tried my hardest to find fun alternatives for my family, but unfortunately a little more than half of my friends and family decided to go to another quinceanera over mine solely because there would be alcohol there, so expect a few people to not come just because of that. but don't worr! y, the people who truly care about celebrating this milestone in your l! ife will be there!! oh, and expect some people to try to sneak some to the reception!maybe you could try some favorite drinks virgin, or make cocktails with different energy drinks so people can still get energized or loosened up without the alcohol. serve them in pretty glasses with lots of color and decorations so people get distracted from the fact that there isn't any alcohol!here is a website i found! http://www.drinksmixer.com/cat/8/and here is one for energy drink cocktails, just take out the alcohol and test them out!good luck! i hope your wedding is the best day of your life!! :D...Show more
