Cliff Tyre: He is right, do not buy it.The transmissions are crap on Sables of this era and would cost more than the car is worth to replace it.I am not sure why you are so uptight about fuel costs. Consider the price of the other vehicle ($2000), plus insurance, plus maintenance (which could be expensive) and compare that to the fuel costs you would actually realize (Sables aren't very efficient) and it isn't very different unless you plan on keeping that car a long time (doubtful it would last five years without major repairs).Just take all of the extra weight out of your truck, accelerate slowly, drive the speed limit, and keep it maintained and you will be fine....Show more
