Dorinda Metzer: Your mom can "exchange" her Green Card for a visitor's visa, a B2. Not formally exchange, but in principle. She'll go to the U.S. consulate in her home country and surrender her Green Card via form I-407. At the SAME time she will submit her B2 visa application.
