How is masturbation healthy?

Donovan Stallons: In my youth, masturbation was fraught with shame and guilt. The organized religions claimed we would burn for it!!! It felt so good, we all risked hell and damnation, and we are all still here today. Currently, forward thinking health groups are saying that masturbation helps to promote a healthy reproductive system, reduces the risk of prostate cancer later in life, elevates the heart rate, relieves stress, and leaves you with a calm, relaxed feeling when you are done. Better education has let people know that masturbation is a good thing, and someone in their early teens,....boy or girl, usually masturbate several times a day. If people tell you they do not masturbate, they are lying or dying. To give you some information about masturbation so you do not have to live with whispered stories and half truths: masturbation will not give you hairy palms, masturbation will not make you go blind, masturbation is not a one way ticket to hell, masturbation will! not ruin your chances of fathering healthy children later in life, (I have four sons) you cannot run out of your lifetime supply as your body produces it over your whole life,.....you can run out of your daily supply by masturbating several times, but a good nights sleep will fix that up. Masturbation is a personal, private thing, and no one wants to walk in on you. Choose a quiet time and place, relax, and enjoy this healthy, natural, rite of passage into adult life. With all the crime in the world, the gods have bigger fish to fry than a young man pleasuring himself. Good luck with this. Mithras...Show more

Boyce Gilhooly: It is healthy depending on how much you do it.Whoever said "it gets rid of old sperm", that's not really true.Sperm will get rid of themselves if they are unhealthy, or "old" as you said. Masturbations simply assists this process. Now, I've explained how it's not unhealthy.I'll explain how it's positively healthy!Masturbation relieves stress, simp! le as that. It can also help create borders between life and y! our fantasies; e.g. someone who masturbates about bondage may subconciously tag this as an unliveable experience. To put it another way, it lets you live out your fantasies in a safe enviroment so you don't have to embarrass yourself with convincing someone in real life to partake in them with you. However, I will make this clear;MASTURBATING TOO MUCH IS VERY UNHEALTHY.Okay, so when you first find out about masturbation, you'll be very interested in it. At this time, you'll probably masturbate more often than you ever will in the future. But be careful; if you masturbate more than twice a day, it can lead to serious problems, namely:- The de-sensitizing of your penis. This will make your orgasms less intense.- If you masturbate about unhealthy fantasies too often, that can lead to blurring of the lines between reality and fantasy. Make sure that you are masturbating only about healthy and natural ideas.Hope i've helped.P.S; Masturbation doesn't cause STD's, make you go blind, ! give you hairy palms, or anything else like that....Show more

Terresa Tsasie: How is it healthy? Research shows that it is healthy in a number of ways. Masturbating regularly substantively reduces the risk of Prostate cancer, for example ( a HUGE health benefit given that Prostate is the second most common form of cancer for males). It also increases the healthiness of the sperm for males who masturbate regularly. Note that the same benefits are enjoyed from regular sex -- but ALMOST NO men get sex on average 6 or more times a week -- and those that do have an increased risk of STDs. In one of the most credible studies correlating overall health with frequency of orgasm, Queens University in Belfast tracked the mortality of about 1,000 middle-aged men over the course of a decade. The study was designed to compare persons of comparable circumstances, age and health. Its findings, published in 1997 in the British Medical Journal, were that men who reported the high! est frequency of orgasm (cumming) enjoyed a death rate half that of the! laggards. Other studies (some rigorous, some less so) purport to show that having sex even a few times a week has an associative or causal relationship with the following: * Improved sense of smell: After sex, production of the hormone prolactin surges. This in turn causes stem cells in the brain to develop new neurons in the brain’s olfactory bulb, its smell center. * Reduced risk of heart disease: In a 2001 follow-on to the Queens University study mentioned above, researchers focused on cardiovascular health. Their finding? That by having orgasm three or more times a week, men reduced their risk of heart attack or stroke by half. * Weight loss, overall fitness: Sex/Masturbation, if nothing else, is exercise. A vigorous bout burns some 200 caloriesâ€"about the same as running 15 minutes on a treadmill or playing a spirited game of squash. The pulse rate, in a person aroused, rises from about 70 beats per minute to 150, the same as that of an athlete putting f! orth maximum effort. * Muscular contractions during intercourse and to a lesser degree when masturbating work the pelvis, thighs, buttocks, arms, neck and thorax. Orgasm also boosts production of testosterone, which leads to stronger bones and muscles. Men’s Health magazine has gone so far as to call the bed the single greatest piece of exercise equipment ever invented. * Pain-relief: Immediately before orgasm, levels of the hormone oxytocin surge to five times their normal level. This in turn releases endorphins, which alleviate the pain of everything from headache to arthritis to even migraine. * Less-frequent colds and flu: Wilkes University in Pennsylvania says individuals who have orgasm once or twice a week (or more) show 30% higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A, which is known to boost the immune system. * A happier prostate? To produce seminal fluid, the prostate and the seminal vesicles take such substances from the blood as z! inc, citric acid and potassium, then concentrate them up to 600 times. ! This makes the prostate healthier in general, even going beyond cancer.********As for the anti-masturbatory forces -- mostly quasi religious in nature, they repeat the ancient myths from the Victorian era -- the one you repeat is a perfect example They tell you that you will go blind? Really? That was disproved conclusively nearly 100 years ago - but it was certainly believed at one point -- or at least used by uptight parents to try to force their boys to stop masturbating. Most of the positive effects of sex and masturbation that have been discovered were discovered as a result of studies intended to prove negatives. The fact is, there are many positives for health from masturbating. There are also psychological positives. There are NO negatives. All of the myths, old wives tales and outright lies that are told to kids -- are just that. Masturbation is good for you, and it does no harm at all.In addition to that it feels good and will let you relax.Kind thoughts,! Hermes...Show more

Morris Cuomo: Yes, it is healthy. You get rid of bodily fluids. Hahaha

Bryant Chaudhry: it is healthy because it gets rid of the old sperm and makes new ones, and it relieves stress and stuff. ever notice that when you dont masterbate for a while it gets sore and relieves itself? thats because it gets all built up and needs to relieve the pressure lol

Patrick Bitsui: It's healthy because it's normal. It is unhealthy/abnormal not to masturbate because than you are suppressing your feelings/sexuality.

Octavio Roylance: Yep its healthy. Helps to prevent prostate cancer in the long run.

Vickie Clampett: yesyesyes its healthy

Dorinda Metzer: Yes, it's perfectly healthy, so long as you don't overdo it. Too much friction will have the same ill effects on your private parts that it would have anywhere else.(The idea of a rug burn on my genitals makes me cringe!)Oh... and I suppose it's healthier if you choose a clean place w! here other people won't be upset with you! It's probably not safe to d! o it in a sewer, and I don't think it'd be too safe in the middle of a busy intersection....Show more

Barton Slisz: Here are in the 21st. century and the myths still exist today on the "evils of masturbation. It is one most universal forms of sexual activity. Practiced by more 90% of males and the rest lie. One more point it will not turn one gay.
